A decentralized biennial / every place is a venue

New York Biennial

In the age of AI, we need human imagination more than ever!

New York is not the location. New York is the symbol: an open signal for creative humanity, broadcast from wherever each artwork already lives.

The New York Biennial is a new form of exhibition: every accepted work is exhibited in its original place, entered by its artist or institution, and connected through one shared certificate, archive, and human signal.

The Model

Not a place. A planetary exhibition system.

01

Original Site

Each work remains where it is made, installed, performed, hosted, carried, projected, or lived.

02

Open Medium

Painting, sound, code, ritual, architecture, film, craft, food, AI, public action, and forms not yet named.

03

Certificate

Accepted artists and institutions receive an official participation certificate for the biennial archive.

04

New York Ceremony

Awarded artists are invited to New York for the ceremony, publication, and public recognition.

What can be submitted

Any creative work may enter: objects, images, spaces, performances, systems, texts, inventions, ceremonies, and living cultural forms.

Who can submit

Individual artists, collectives, museums, schools, cultural institutions, communities, studios, foundations, and independent organizers.

How the exhibition exists

The work does not need to travel. The biennial recognizes its original context as the exhibition site and connects it to a global map and archive.

Award

Award Path

From local presence to global recognition.

Artists and institutions submit work from anywhere in the world.
Accepted works receive a participation certificate and enter the global archive.
Selected works are reviewed for awards across media, impact, imagination, and humanity.
Awarded artists gather in New York for the ceremony and public announcement.
